Who's excited for the MLB postseason (2010)?
The Major League Baseball postseason is coming October 6th, who’s excited?!
Will you watch or attend any games?
Is your favorite team in the playoffs? If not, who will you be rooting for?
Do you have any traditions?
Are there any websites where you can pick who you think will win each game?
Will any of your TV shows be interrupted by the games?
If you’re not excited, why?
Who do you think will win the World Series?

Count me in! Yankees ftw!
Although I will miss Fringe for a couple weeks, I am looking forward to the Braves kicking some ass! Yeah, they’re not officially in the playoffs yet, but they will clinch a wild card spot soon enough!
I’m a Phillies phan. I am very excited about their prospects. I put my name in the lottery for playoff tix, but who knows how that will turn out. I’d love to take my son (my wife and daughter don’t care).
I don’t gamble, and I don’t watch TV other than sports, so my TV watching won’t be affected, but my daughter might get upset if there are games on Mondays or Tuesdays.
@erichw1504, you better hope the Padres or Giants lose a few games because, even with our subs playing, I don’t see how you’ll win a game off the Phillies the way you’ve been playing lately. ;-)
I have never been interested in baseball (or most sports – footy is my only exception.)
Everyone in my family is a Dodgers fan. Everyone. Sometimes I’ll mention the Giants just to see hear them yell at the same time.
I will be once they’ve started.
What teams have made the playoffs so far?
IIRC, the team that won the World Series 20 years ago will finally be playing in the post season again.
Yes, I’m excited to watch some baseball. I don’t even know who’s in the playoffs, but I’ll watch just the same.
I’m ready for the baseball post season because then it’s close to being over with and out of the way for football season!
As of today, the Phillies, Reds, Rangers, Twins, Yankees, and Rays are in the playoffs.
@BoBo1946 the Braves, I mentioned it in my first answer.
If the Giants make the playoffs, then I’d love to see the orange and black go all the way, and I’m from LA!
Otherwise, I’ll be rooting for the TC team. ;-)
And the final two NL playoff teams will come from the Braves, Padres, or Giants. Braves are in the lead right now, but it’s hard to say how it will come out since the Padres and Giants are playing each other, and the Braves have to play the Phillies for the last three games.
The Phillies will be playing subs, since they’ve wrapped up home field advantage throughout the playoffs (and in the World Series, should they get there). So one would think the Braves will have an easy time winning the last three games.
@Brian1946 Looks like only the Padres, the Rockies are next up but are 6.5 games behind with only 4 games left in the season.
Also, like Braves and Cubs….
Well I….......no i’d better not. Discretion is indeed the better part of valour!
The Giants magic number is two! Goddamn right I’m excited!
Go Red Socks, Go Red Socks, Go Red Socks, Go Red Socks…
Just you wait till next year!
I’m pulling for the Rays!
But I’ll be really happy if anyone other than the Yankees win. And next year, I can feel it, is going to be the Year of the Cub. First full year without Piniella.
@Seek_Kolinahr My sentiments exactly to the Yankees. Spoiled rich kids, all. So you are a Cubbies fan, hey? No wonder you’ve developed such remarkable patience. :-)
seriously guys? psh. bunch of losers. GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@ETpro In what league do the Red Socks play? Little league?
Braves got the wild card spot! Woot!
@erichw1504- We’ll try and be quick and painless with you guys and win it in three.
@AstroChuck Haha, good luck with that. I wouldn’t get too cocky.
3 hours until post season begins. Are you ready for some BASEBAAALLLLL?!
With the Red Socks out I’m only in it to watch the Yankees go down in flames. :-)
@ETpro There you go again. Who the hell are the “Red Socks?”
As far as I know, the Yankee’s hated opponent is the Red Sox. Or are you making fun of your own team? Or is that not really your team?
@wundayatta This year they were Red Socks—and I’m being kind in using an “o” instead of a “u”.
Tonight will determine whether I take off my hat for the rest of the season. * sigh *
@Seek_Kolinahr Looks like tonight is the night!
@AstroChuck Well, you weren’t quick or painless, but you did a good job. I commend you.
I’m majorly impressed with how well the Phillies hit Aroldis Chapman’s 100+ MPH fastballs. :-o
It reminds of the NLCS in 1981 when the Doyers teed off on the Astro’s Nolan Ryan.
@erichw1504 I can’t wait!
Itching to see the Rays kill the Stankees.
Hoping for the Giants to wipe the floor with the Phillies.
I wanna see the Giants win it all!
No way the Sillies can withstand the orange and black attack!
What chance does any team have against one that’s wearing the Halloween colors in October?! :-p
About the only team that would have a chance would be the Cincinnati Bengals and for some reason, I don’t see them playing each other at all. ;-)
Anyone here watching the Giants-Braves game?
Unlike most of the games in this area so far, this one isn’t on TBS; it’s on my MLBN channel instead.
For some reason, TBS apparently thinks that more people want to watch American Dad than want to watch a playoff game in that network’s home (last time I looked) town.
Doesn’t seem like the game would be blacked out in the Atlanta area, but who knows?
@Brian1946 I watched it last night on TBS, are you sure you were on the right channel?
@erichw1504
I’m on the right channel.
Now that you mention last night’s game, it must be a replay of that game.
@Brian1946 I was going to say… last night’s game was the Braves’ last.
@Brian1946 Even our pitcher gave Chapman’s 100 mph pitch a long ride.
I wonder how long the Linsecum/Halliday matchup will go on. I’ve always wondered about this theory of matching best to best. Why not match your best two against their best two and three?
Well, looking forward to it.
@wundayatta
“Even our pitcher gave Chapman’s 100 mph pitch a long ride.”
I remember hearing that on TV although I didn’t see it. Wasn’t that long ride good for an RBI?
I think Chapman needs more movement on his fastballs. If only he could get some coaching from Don Drysdale or this guy.
I look forward to seeing how well your hitters handle Linsecum, although I’m sure Halliday will be a major challenge for the Giants.
@Brian1946- You’re going to need a shovel for Drysdale.
I can’t wait to see Timmy Lincecum outpitch Roy Halladay on Saturday!
@AstroChuck
“You’re going to need a shovel for Drysdale.”
I know, which is why I should have put a ”~” or a ”;-)” after that sentence, because I wasn’t seriously suggesting he get coaching from either of those guys. :-p
@Brian1946- That’s okay. I was joking too. A shovel wouldn’t yield much. Don Drysdale was cremated.
@AstroChuck On what basis do you think Lincecum will outpitch Halladay? Or are you just blowing smoke?
Alright- Cody hits a solo homer off of Halladay: 1–0 GIANTS!
Top of the 6th: 4–1 Baysballers! :-p
Correction: Cody Ross hits two solo shots tonight to become the greatest player who ever lived.
@wundayatta- I don’t see any smoke here. How about where you are?
@AstroChuck You still didn’t offer any basis. You’re just speaking in hindsight. Put yourself out there. Make a claim about Hamels.
Cody Ross does appear to be a problem. How is he in Giants Stadium? I don’t believe I’ve ever watched a game that took place there.
