Gmail "report as spam" filter not working?

I’ve been getting a spam email from the same email address practically everyday if not twice a day to my Gmail address. I report it as spam every singe time yet it always arrives back to my inbox. I confirmed that the email address didn’t somehow get into my contacts list.
What is going on and how do I proceed? Thanks!

It may not actually be spam (according to Google). Here’s how to fix it so you don’t have to do it:
Go to settings> Filters>Create a new filter>From (the address you’re getting spam from, or what they call themselves – ie Gays.com)>Next step>Apply the label “trash” or “Imap trash”>Create filter
@papayalily Thanks for the easy fix! Instead of applying label, there was a “delete it” option for any email that comes from that address. I chose that.
@PnL Yes! There is, I just thought that there was also a “spam” label when typing it out, and then when there wasn’t I just continued on my way…
@papayalily
Thanks for those instructions.
I don’t have Gmail but my email does have a filter making feature.
