All I know is that my dad made $450,000 off of his investment in microsoft. I’m not sure how many shares he had, but his broker was a genious.

I googled “MIcrosoft IPO” and found a database – first hit.

If one had purchased 1 share in 1986 @ $21, you would have now 288 shares @ 27.91=+$8000.

@Eambos: Excellent advice from you dad’s broker, I would say. (*genius.)

I bought MSFT at its all-time high several years ago and now it is in the pits. @cwilbur thinks that I have the anti-Midas touch.

@gail: thanks for the correction. Gotta love big fingers on an iPhone keyboard=P

So, Eambos, what is your dad’s broker advising him to buy (or sell) now?

eambos's avatar

Wouldnt you like to know =p. I’ll have to ask, maybe even start investing now. This guy is pretty good, he told my father to drop the google shares he had a few months ago, right before they dropped.

I would indeed like to know! Fluther is for sharing, right, particularly when you get a good answer from a lovely old lady who does not want to be on the street selling pencils from a cup in a few years.

It’s a little late to be calling him, but if I ever find out I will certainly share my information with somone as helpful as you. Just keep it between the two of us and we’ll never have money troubles again ;p

@Eambos; from your lips….and I can’t believe that your dad owned Google also. Aargh!

@gail I still think letting Milo “scratch” out your next investment is a great idea. I still crack-up every time I think about that!

@bulb: if I can keep Milo from being eaten by the night creatures that howl, we can try making him our investment adviser. As good an approach as any, given the economy and the market now. And I am happy to be the court jester.

@gail If I were half as witty as you, then I would try to assume the role of court jester. Also, I would test poisoned food for you any day. You’re the BEST!
