How much will this vet work cost?

Just found a cat outside my apartment. Emaciated, back legs have something wrong with them (difficulty sitting down and walking), some kind of recent gash on its face by its mouth. Assuming the poor thing survives, any estimate what vet work may cost me? Assuming the only thing to do is to put the poor thing down, any idea what that costs? Thanks.

Impossible to say without a diagnostic.
You might try taking him to a low cost rescue/vet group and if he is savable you can re-adopt him after he is well.
He could just be very weak from his emaciated condition or he could have an injury that needs attention.
Good luck with this!
There is no way to know the costs. Even within a community fees vary widely from practice to practice. You might be looking at x-rays, certainly a chem screen/CBC, leukemia/feline AIDS tests… Your local Humane Society might be able to direct you to a lower cost vet.
At any rate, please use precautions when handling the poor little thing. You don’t want to allow contact with other cats you might have in case it is a communicable disease.
@Blueroses Thanks for the warning. I have a Siberian Husky but I made sure to keep him in his kennel and not let the cat by him.
Be sure to go to a regular veterinarian clinic, not an animal er. Those tend to be more expensive.
Sadly the cat, Grumbelly as we named him, had to be put down. He had a broken jaw which had a protruding bone in his mouth causing an open wound. The wound was heavily infected, so bad you could smell it when he came into the room. He was so badly emaciated from probably not having been able to eat in a while, and I hadn’t seen him drink anything since I found him. The vet said that even if someone had the money for the surgery and extensive treatment the cat would need, the odds were low he would survive.
Thanks for the help anyways guys.

Awww…poor little guy!
What suffering he must have endured.
You were his angel of mercy, and for that you should be proud.
Thank you for helping out that little creature
