I’ll bet you could use almost any chocolate cookie. I have seen cheesecake crusts made out of smashed Oreos, you could use chocolate graham crackers. It might come down to personal preference for taste and color.
Oreos would work great, plus you’d get to eat the filling off all of them.
Almost every recipe on the internet that calls for chocolate wafers mentions Nabisco’s Famous Chocolate Wafers. < Here is a link if you want to see what they look like.
It seems that they are difficult to locate in some areas. A few have mentioned that they can be found in the ice cream toppings aisle. If you cannot locate them, there are plenty of recommendations and recipes for substitutions.
Thanks for the awesome help, everyone! I especially like the oreo idea.. ;)
Just got back from the grocery store. The Nabisco FCW were on the shelf along with animal crackers and Nilla Wafers.
It’s a cookie. Very light.Delish!
They are definitely thin, usually crispy cookies. Nabisco makes a brand called Nabisco Famous Wafers that will probably work for this recipe. As I recall, they taste very similar to Oreos without the filling. You can see an image of the package here
Just wanted to say thanks, everyone. I used the oreos and the cheesecake came out sooo tasty :)
I was having a funny thought about communion wafers. I wonder if anyone ever makes dessert with those?
Glad your cheesecake turned out well. Sounds yummy.
