What is the worst circumstance you have experienced where you were at the wrong place at the wrong time?
We’ve all been there before. It’s the worst kind of coincidence; you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Please describe the worst time this has happened to you. How did it happen? What was the significance of it? How did you handle it? Did it change your life? How did you feel about it at the time and how do you feel about it now? Was it fate?

This may not be my worst story, but it was a pretty bad coincidence.
I had stopped at a red light. My window was rolled down about halfway. A car in the lane next to me drove by to turn left (left green light) and **SPLAATTT!!!**. My car and I got sprayed with ketchup and mustard. Someone must have tossed their McDonald’s bag with condiment packets unopened out their window earlier and the car ran over it. I only got a few spots in my hair, but the side of my car was literally covered with the shit! Luckily I got to a car wash before it could dry on.
Now what are the chances of that?

We were driving down a country lane on holiday. A car in front of us kindly let a bus coming in the opposite direction pass him, by moving a little too far off the lane, and the car went headlong into a rhyne. This person obviously wasn’t aware that the whole of the area has rhynes.
Naughty of me I know but I couldn’t help but laugh. We did, of course, help the person out with his problem, but it really was funny!!
On a sadder note, my dad was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and while in his car was hit by a speeding driver and killed.
I was the subject of experimental education and failed math by so little I have to wonder if I would have passed with normal education. My ambition telling me to graduate high school has led me to believe my life is in fact a cruel joke, the punchline to which I will never know.
But I don’t believe in coincidence, I believe in mistakes.
I went to a parts warehouse outside of Saigon with our Storekeeper. We were just finishing up when all the soldiers started running around and bullets flew. My unarmed buddy and I climbed to a loft and hid behind crates while the soldiers and VC slugged it out. As fighting got closer we managed to climb on to the roof. Of course it rained all night just to make our situation perfect.
After that I started to carry my .45 where ever I went. John McCain was in the Hanoi Hilton and I did not want to join him.
While sat in traffic one day, waiting for the lights to change. I glanced in my rear view mirror to see a car heading towards me at speed.. I had less than a second to react when she rear ended me shunting me almost fifteen feet forward…. I still have neck pain to this day! :-/
One Christmas I woke early & got ready for my first day back at school. As I walked the short distance from home to school I was struck by the lack of any other kids doing likewise. Soon the school came into view. Still no sign of friends or fellow classmates. As I entered the school gates I realised there were no cars in the carpark. I attempted to enter the premises, the doors were indeed locked. I made my way back home pondering my predicament as I went. My Mother soon realised that she had the dates mixed & it was another week before I was due back at school. A mixture of feelings ran through my mind. I was happy to have another week off. On the other hand I was embarrassed at such a mistake & hoped no one from school witnessed my wasted trek. Definitely a case of the wrong place at the wrong time!

@ucme Hah, I loved when I would wake up on a Saturday or Sunday and have the feeling that I need to get up for school, only to realize a few moments later that I don’t need to. You took it to another level, though with your story!

@erichw1504 I guess I was used as a kind of guinea pig. Because my 2 brothers were spared this “ordeal.” Although she never let on, I reckon she wasn’t sure herself so she sent me because she knew i’d be no trouble. Yeah, thanks Mum!
@ucme I guess you are the oldest. I found myself as an occasional science experiment too. I think my dad and your mother would have gotten along great!

This seems to be a reoccurring thing with me. Wrong place at the wrong time is basically majority of my life. I’ve just learned to not care as much any longer, lol.
I was recently walking along the pavement in extremely heavy rain when someone obviously going about two times the speed limit drove past and drenched me in water! Of course, I was already pretty wet by that point anyway due to forgetting my umbrella and falling into a puddle earlier, but it still dampened my mood (oh, the pun).
I’m really surprised this question did not get a ton of answers! It’s still funny thinking about @erichw1504 deal….that is wild!
@BoBo1946 I would think that most people, except us crazy few, would like to work on forgetting their worst circumstances instead of writing about them.
@Ron_C That and the fact that the worst circumstance I can come up with is trivial compared to what others experience.
