Estimates are all over the place. This article estimates 125 trillion in household wealth in 2000. This says 140 trillion in 2005. The Freakonomics guy said a good way to estimate it is to multiply gross world product by 30. According to the CIA, gross world product in 2009 was 70 trillion. Multiply that by 30 and you get 210 trillion for world assets in 2009.
