Do leafy greens contain vitamin B-12?

Asked by RHGMCG (8points) March 23rd, 2007
For years, my vegetarianism led me to spinach not just for flavor and iron, but for my vitamin b-12, OR SO I THOUGHT! I just heard b-12 is found only in dirt, and that meat and dairy contain it because the animals eat 'dirty' grass. true? any help?

Dark leafy greens are great fo you; A, C, K and huge amts of calcium (Kale is better than dairy. Vitamin B12 is found in liver, kidney, yogurt, dairy products, fish, clams, oysters, nonfat dry milk, salmon, sardines.

I wouldn't go near liver or kidneys these days or any farm-raised fishm either...If you are a true vegan, take a supplement. Also read Eric Schlosser's FAST FOOD NATION. I heard him on NPR yesterday..We might be safer just eating dirt. (also to further uncrease eating depression, try books by MICHAEL POLLAN and JOHN SINGER).

I think the idea was that spinach had dirt on it:

Ok , I see a relative of mine wrote this and I know he is washed up.
Just kidding -common name, though. Liver is number one, just be careful you don’t want to pollute yourself too bad, it is the cesspool of the body. But pure, grass grown liver is superb-Oh, Clarisse! Munch, munch
