General Question
Re-configuring an internet connection: What's the deal? (Details follow.)
I got a new computer today (finally). I connected to the internet with no problem for a few hours. Then, I was disconnected and could not get internet access on my old laptop, my new one or the big bulky home computer. It said “DarlingRhad Connected” but then it also said, “No internet access/unidentified network.” So, I called the broadband company. They walked me through troubleshooting stuff. They had me reconfigure a new network connection with a new name, etc. It was laborious and he was dictating all sorts of numbers to go into boxes (IP numbers) and then do this and do that… I was finally able to get online.
Now, I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. I didn’t change anything. I get online and something called “babylon.com” comes on as the default…and everything is attempting to connect through some babylon.com. “Unable to connect to babylon.com” What on earth is that?!! Why is it doing that?!!
Also, despite the fact that she said the new connection would be stronger…it is really weak! Does anyone know what might have happened?
If anyone has any idea what this is….please let me know. (I use Windows 7). Also, it is PAINFULLY SLOW now. (Also, this computer came with McAfee and it says this: “ReferenceError: bbyln is not defined”.....that would be this “babylon” thing, right? Is this a virus?
