My interest has been piqued by each season's ads, but for some reason I've never watched. Is American Horror Story worth my time?

Does the content live up to the ads?

Not really. The writers seem to just throw in any ideas that pop into their head, no matter how goofy or nonsensical it might be.The best thing about that show is the Charlie Clouser composed theme music.
Very interested in this thread. Been a while since I watched some episodes of the first season and can’t recall anything now enough to compel me to continue but been thinking about it a few times, whether to do it or not.
I watched the first two seasons. It has its moments – it hits all the classic horror story tropes in each series, and for that it’s sort of compelling. It definitely made me jump more than a few times.
Overall, I found that it was good enough for me to see how much better it could have been, with better writing.
I agree with @dappled_leaves. It was alright; Not horrible, not great. It’s also really gory, which I find to be a negative, but I have OCD.
I quite enjoyed the first series but the second series didn’t hold my interest as much. I am really intrigued by the new series (Freak Show?) though.
I loved the first season. The second season was harder to get excited about. The third looks even less intriguing.
