How weird is this (medical question)?

This is new, but very infrequent. Probably been happening for like 6 months now, but only 5 or so times in that period.
What happens is I feel a sensation of movement that feels much like a stomach growl, but in my chest. Within a few minutes I will then have an attack of wet coughing.
I’ve had a chest x-ray within the last few months for unrelated reasons and it showed no sign of pneumonia or anything else unusual.
What gives? Does this happen to anyone else?
I’m not actually super concerned. Just kinda wondering how unusual this is. I’ll bring it up at my next check-up but I’m not likely to make a special trip to the doc about it.

Weird movement in the chest, wet hacking cough….....Hmmmmmm
How do you feel otherwise?
Did you start on any new meds during this time?
@rojo Hahahahahah uh-oh….
@chyna No new meds, nope.
@Dutchess_III I feel otherwise fine, now. I was having chest issues a few months ago (weird pains) which was why I got the x-ray, but those eventually went away on their own.
Well, if you’re coming down with pneumonia you’ll start feeling exhausted all the time. You’ll day dream about being in bed. Mine snuck up on me so gradually that it was 4 months before it got diagnosed. It was a bad deal, and I don’t remember the weeks leading up to the surgery except I DO remember feeling so tired. But I don’t remember if I was coughing or not.
Just keep an eye on yourself…keep us updated. You could use a few more medical issues to be, you know, well rounded. :(
Have you considered it part of the digestive tract issues? Like acid reflex !
I think the weird pains I was having months ago were acid reflux!! But I would be very very surprised if this wet cough had anything to do with my GI tract.
One of the signs of acid reflex is a cough. Check out WebMD on GERD
Do you “bring anything up”?
I haven’t, mainly out of propriety (it always seems to happen to me in public) but it sure feels like I could. One of those nasty, crackling coughs.
Breathing is important. Have it checked out before Trump takes your insurance.
I’d second the acid reflux suggestion. Does the noise sound like a burp coming? Do you have any other symptoms? It’s worth mentioning to your doc. Especially as you don’t want to damage your stomach area from coughing, if it still delicate after your surgeries
