There was an episode on The Simpsons Where Homer designed a car for everyman. It was called the Homer .
The car had everything anyone could want – except the price.
Some fo the features
” The Homer has two bubble domes; one in the front, while the one in the back is for quarreling kids, and comes with optional restraints and muzzles.
According to Homer, the engine sound causes people to think “the world’s coming to an end.”
There are three horns, as Homer claims that “you can never find a horn when you’re mad.” The three horns play the song “La Cucaracha.”
The car also features gigantic cupholders, which actually became a feature on many cars in the 1990s onward.
The car has various outdated features such as bubble domes, shag carpeting, and tailfins. It also has a metal bowler as a hood ornament.”
Have you seen cars used by 007? If roads are too busy you can take water route..) Don’t need the weapons though if you’re peace loving man!!
As I read the question, The Homer occurred to me, too.
Should have put In General flagging my question
.... sorry
I’ll answer more seriously.
The answer is a resounding “Yes!” But you will have to take a cost hit.
For example. We know how to get better mileage, performance and lower emissions – One of the ways is continuously variable valve timing and continuously variable lift. The system works great, but is expensive to make.
There are other examples. Drive by wire. Multiple spark events per cylinder event, higher fuel pressure, air assisted injection,..
Frames can be made of exotic metals – light strong. but expensive.
You can look at virtually every component and find something better. But you may be shocked at the price.
Yes, but it would be a major bitch to get parts for.
It needs to have Exorcism Radio on at all times to deal with Satanic Butt Bastards.
I’d want an electric car with good range and which handles like a BMW and is designed not to fall apart. Manual windows/doors. Not overly computerized, but the computer is open source and accessible by the owner (but not by wifi) and does not log driving data unless the user authorizes it. Good aesthetic design that does not resemble a tennis-shoe the way so many recent designs do. Has a “speed bump mode” that reduces the impact of speed bumps.
