I have decided to embrace technology.
What is the best smart phone, it has to have a proximity sensor so it will keep me from walking off a curb, or down a set of steps while blindly texting.
It has to be able to charge really fast ,because I won’t be able to cope without it.
It has to control every aspect of my day to day life.
So for someone new wanting to get hopelessly hooked on a smart phone, which is the best choice?

Lol.
Just how bored are you today?
You can use the phone while it charges. I am right now.
I don’t think you have to worry about curbs or stairs, because my money says you can’t text and walk at tbe same time anyway.
If you want it to control every aspect of your life, just make sure your wife knows the number. Tee hee.
I was wondering when you’d put this record back on.
One that has a lanyard and shoulder holster so it doesn’t get dropped in the toilet.
You think you’re needling us Squeek. All I can tell you is that I had the same attitude as you. I clung to that piece of shit flip phone believing “it’s good enough for me.” Now here’s one excellent reason for having children. Your kids would force a decent phone on you. Find your friend who was willing to give you the iphone 4 and see if the deal is still on.
Everyone has his / her own preferences when it comes to smart phones. Go for any inexpensive model first and see how it goes / get familiar with all the functions. Based on that experience you can decide which model to look for.
This was a humour question, people seem to think I absolutely HATE technology, that isn’t true I hate technology I don’t have the option of saying no thanks to.
Like crap loads of gadgets in todays vehicles that are just going to fail and be quite costly to repair.
Technology that advances medical treatments and cures are great, technology for cleaner sustainable energy is great as well.
I have come to understand that most people LOVE their smart phones, because of all the functions they provide them WONDERFUL.
But remember I totally dislike texting, I have zero need or desire to go on line with it.
So sorry folks, all I want is a phone I can store phone numbers and talk to people,THAT is all plus a phone that I DO NOT have to charge every damn day.Can your smart phone do that?
I still only have to charge my old flip once a week.
If you only want a phone for calling people and storing phone numbers, why do you need to switch from your current one?
I heard there’s one where the only ringtone is @SQUEEKY2‘s voice yelling at you to watch where you’re going and get a life! Bonus feature- the volume is set to max and can’t be turned off.
@SQUEEKY2
Don’t play naive, you knew the kind of reception this question would get when you posted it. I dare say that’s exactly why you posted it. If all you want is a phone to store numbers and make calls than any cheap flip phone will do and you know that. This question is inane.
I keep ragging you on this squeek because I really lived your point of view, and saw my phone as a PHONE. A better phone—why bother? My obstinance was about being a product of the 50s and the then current definition of “phone”. Though even restricting yourself to the 50s concept of “phone”, the superiority of my now antiquated iphone 6 over that flip phone is staggering. I think the worst block for us old folks when it comes to these things is getting past the concept of these devices as mere “phones.” And considering your line of work, you just cannot imagine how useful you would find a good smart phone.
Yeah. Think of it as an underpaid personal assistant.
If you couldn’t go on line with your smart phone, how great would it be to you then?
data costs are stupid here in Canada.

The best smart phone is the one that works best for you, so I can’t answer that question. You need to talk to an salesperson at a mobile phone shop, for appropriate advice. There is a very large market out there, and new models and types are constantly emerging, so what’s best for you today may not be tomorrow.
