Have you ever heard of someone using a Lyft or Uber driver as a guide?

I mean hiring the driver not to take you to your destination but to lead you there while you follow in your own car.
I suppose anyone who has an Uber app also has a GPS, so this might be a completely improbable scenario. But I have neither, and I can actually imagine doing it.
Just wondering if somebody has already done it.

But don’t you need @n app to get an Uber or Lyft? (I honestly don’t know…)
Yes, you do. That’s why it’s improbable. Imagination specializes in the improbable. But I’m wondering about the actual: has it been done?
Well, it would give us the opportunity to yell “Follow that car!” Like in one of those silly 60s romantic thriller movies.
Doubtful if an Uber or Lyft driver would go along with this. Surprising if this is allowed company practice.
Following another vehicle and guiding another could get tricky and cause accidents.
I can’t imagine that anyone has done it since the whole point is that it is a service for people who don’t have or don’t want to use their cars but it doesn’t mean no one’s ever done it. “There are more things in heaven and earth…”
And as you say, there is GPS.
I have never heard of this scenario, but I can’t see why a driver wouldn’t do it – assuming he/she was paid for the service provided.
I can see a scenario where you’re going to a part of town you’re not familiar with, and even with a GPS you’re in an area you’re not too sure about. it’s a little far fetched but not totally off the wall.
I have heard of truckers using regular taxis to guide them to destinations in strange cities, can’t see why Uber or lyft would have a problem as long as their were paid for it.
Out here, most Uber and Lyft drivers know very little about the city. Most of them commute in from as far away as Stockton, Modesto, etc. The job would be impossible for them without GPS. Following one of them around San Francisco would be problematic at best. The ideal way to sightsee anyplace interesting is to have an interesting and knowledgeable resident drive you around.
I’m too paranoid to use either Uber or Lyft; so no, I’ve never even considered it!!!
