Who gets hornier, male or female? [NSFW]

Asked by Akame009 (228points) January 31st, 2019

I’m just asking out of curiosity, but who gets hornier? The male or female? I know for me, as a girl, I get horny all the time I am just really good at hiding it. However, I don’t know if that’s just me or if it is every girl.

With a sample size of 2 (my wife and I), it’s scientifically conclusive that men get hornier.

I think they both get equally horny, but a man is more likely to have some luck getting relief from it than a woman is, especially if it’s a one night stand kind of thing. So I think men are more open and obvious about it, more likely to dwell on it, and more active in searching for said relief, where as women may downplay it so they don’t get harassed by undesirable men.

At traffic lights, women certainly.

Libido varies so much from person to person and at various times in one’s life that there is no point trying to generalize by gender.

How could you get real statistics on this to prove the point way or another?

MY guess is that there is significant fibbing by both sexes as to when they are horny.

Seems very hard to measure the different levels of hornyness.
It’s like comparing people’s pain; impossible.
Even if we give our pain numbers on a scale from 0 to 10, your 7 can be my 5, or vice versa.
Hornyness seems, to me, to be even more difficult to measure on a scale, let alone comparing it between sexes.

…and people complain about my questions…

Who can know?
Who cares?
I get horny for sure. The rest is not really my problem.

Can’t speculate on who gets hornier, but would speculate a man gets and stays horny more often.

With a control group of 4 (me and every guy I’ve dated for long enough to know how often they wanted sex vs. how often I wanted sex) I can safely speculate that…girls get hornier. Or I’m out of control. Who knows?

anniereborn's avatar

With my control group of four, I can say it would be men. (But I have a low libido).

kritiper's avatar

I have always been very curious about women’s horniness.

mazingerz88's avatar

No idea. Would take millions of dollars funding statistical research that may shed light on this.

I would include studying the different levels and stages of horniness both genders experience.

^^ Ever hear of Master’s and Johnson? The Kinsey Report? The Hite Report? Research has been done.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@janbb – those are all decades old. I think that women’s sexual sexual behaviour has changed mightily with feminism, the internet, #METOO, and other events of the last 30 years.

rebbel's avatar

Do you think, @elbanditoroso, that something primal as sexual arrousement could be subject to change by such things that you mentioned?
Just stating; sincere question.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@elbanditoroso Oh, that’s too funny! I just finished posting a question based on that very thought, without having seen your comment! Maybe we’re all starting to think alike.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@rebbel I agree with your question. Johnson and Masters and The Hite Report dealt with physical arousal, rather than with behavior. (Just a thought since I’ve only skimmed through them and have never read them word for word.)

elbanditoroso's avatar

@rebbel – yes, I think that 30 years ago, women were less free to acknowledge their sexual feelings, at least in the US.

janbb's avatar

@elbanditoroso A lot of it was observational and measurable. As @rebbel says, I don’t think physical arousal that is measurable has changed. And the Hite Report was in the 70s or so, I believe, which may have been a time of greater sexual freedom than now arguably.. Certainly, places to start if one is looking for data.

Dutchess_III's avatar

We had more “freedom” than, say in the 50s, but the slut shaming was still rampant. None of the girls I knew then had the kind of casual sex that seems to be around today, or if we did, we regretted it and learned from it. It was still a pretty serious decision for us.
I think there is far more awareness today of how a woman’s body, and physical responses, differ from a man’s than there was then.

I’ve had women in my life that put me to shame when they got horny, I thought I was bad, but they proved me wrong.
