Lauper is probably most famous for it.
GUNSHIP has my favorite version.

Ah kiddies! There’s the old standard “Time after time, I tell myself that I’m so lucky to be loving you”

Some of the really old singers did some pretty versions of this song. The one I’m most partial to is Rod Stewart’s rendention.

Only one i’m aware of is Cyndi’s version & it’s a pretty monotonous, mundane song to be fair.

The first Time after Time is such a standard that I’m rather surprised that anyone can’t sing it word for word. There wasn’t a mainline singer from Sinatra through Elvis that didn’t record it. And Rod Stewart’s one of them. In fact I’m willing to bet that upon hearing it you will all say “oh yeah, I know this tune.”

Wasn’t this Lauper’s song first? How could Elvis have sang it @stanleybmanly

If you’re asking about the classic song by Sammy Cahn, it’s most famously associated with Kathryn Grayson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlBYm4WWGs4

The Cahn song is indeed the classic, and the one that the title evokes first in my mind, though I obviously lived through the 80’s. Trust me, it is the song from the 40s that even today would pay you 50 times the money in royalties as the Lauper tune. Google the title and place the name of any musician you can think of from Ella Fitzgerald through Dave Brubeck behind it —anybody from the 40s through the 80s and you’re likely to find a cover of the thing.

Well the OP didn’t really specify, so I just went to the one I knew. Honestly I never heard that other one.

Yes I indeed do. I like many versions of it. The Cyndi Lauper one, and this newer one by Quiet Drive:

Thank you for all your responses, jellies!

Didn’t know there are so many versions!

I sometimes confuse this song with “The Longest Time”. <——- This one is by Billy Joel, right?

(Yeah, I know, they don’t sound the same. But somehow I confuse them.)

Cyndi Lauper. Tuck and Patti did a pretty good version back in 1989 or 1990.
