I like comedy, action, westerns, horror, gangster & war films.
Been watching a few during these lockdown days & would be open to any suggestions from the motley crew that is Fluther.
Be advised however, I know a lot so hit me with some hidden gems.
You may begin…

Ahh, my first customer :D
I watched Fiddler on the Roof again and now have had this in my mind for days.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
The Shootist
Go Over There
Jaws
Sensible Slacks
Being There
Dirt Sandwich
Where the Red Fern Grows
Who dat?
Patton
Lost at the Mall
The Outlaw Josey Wales
What a Beautiful Blazer
The Poseidon Adventure
Duel
Have you ever heard of these?:)
@RedDeerGuy1 Hardly a hidden gem but a good call nonetheless. My daughter is currently sat watching The Phantom Menace, I say watching, she’s glancing in between texts to her friends.
@lucillelucillelucille I have no idea what Jaws is, tell me, is it any good?
Those are fine films, I love Cuckoo’s Nest & Duel, been a while since I saw either, cheers!
@chyna Another good option, not watched it for years & so a definite consideration.
@ucme What about “What a Beautiful Blazer” starring every country music performer from that decade?
@ucme-Speaking of that have you seen Shit Ton ll?
Invasion of the Bee Girls, 1973.
The story line is ridiculous. “A powerful cosmic force is turning Earth women into queen bees who kill men by wearing them out sexually.”
But the women are beautiful and, honestly, isn’t that how any man would want to go?
It’s on Amazon Prime.
@LuckyGuy Interesting, what a way to go though!
@ucme -No, It was the backstory of the 2 Mules for Sister Sara.
My favorite 1970s films (in order of most favorite):
Harold and Maude (1971)
Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope, 1977)
The Three Musketeers (1973)
The Return of the Pink Panther (1975)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Duck, You Sucker (1971)
The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976)

The Seven-Ups (1973)
The Duelists (1977)
All the President’s Men (1976)
The Conversation (1974)
Jaws (1975)
Alien (1979)
Animal House (1978)
Silent Running (1972)
Duel (1971)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
And two great Westerns almost from the 1970s:
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
The Wild Bunch (1969)
(It interests me just how frequently you seem to have very different tastes and ideas from me, so I’d be curious to see how well we agree on good 70s films. ;-) )
Top Secret!! off by 4 years. 1984. Also 1984 in 1984. I have difficulty going further back seeing I was a toddler at the time.
Here’s a pic of the Queen Bee in her lab.
Bzzzzzzzz.
@Zaku I like all but 7 of those, a fine list.
Saw The French Connection a couple of days ago, love the sequel too.
@LuckyGuy She’s a honey with a sting in the tail, no tits to speak of though :D
@RedDeerGuy1 A poor excuse mate, the second world war was way before my time but I know who started it :D
I love Three Days of the Condor & watched one last night called Rollercoaster.
It starred George Segal & Timothy Bottoms…that name makes me laugh because I’m mature that way.
Here’s a quick, informative video of how they change a woman into a Bee girl. Transformation
Note how she exits the process with a facial, makeup, and a complicated 1970s hairdo. That’s some fancy bee juice!
Such Good Friends starring Dyan Cannon. a hilarious dark comedy.
Also, what I think was Peckinpah’s best, Straw Dogs.
And the classic, Clockwork Orange.
@ucme Sorry. I will try to give better excuses from now on.
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
@Jonsblond A Wilder/Pryor gem, not as good as Stir Crazy but funny still.
The Panic in Needle Park

Fritz the Cat X rated Adult animation, best after smoking a joint.
@ucme -Me too and I like the Coen Bros. films.
My favorite movie from when I was little, “The Aristocats” 1970, when I was 4. Our first cat was named Dutchess, after the mother cat.
@lucillelucillelucille I keep trying to get you to see one of their finest Blood Simple.
Watch it before the month is out or I will bother you forever lol
@ucme You’re going to have to launch a fairly expensive ad campaign with radio & tv spots to get me to see it. Why, i don’t know.
@ucme -Besides Oh brother, I liked Miller’s crossing.
@lucillelucillelucille Do you know, I have not yet seen Oh Brother?
Meant to a few times but never got round to it, that has to change!
