How hard is it to change an avatar in Fluther?

Asked by Nomore_lockout (7612points) October 20th, 2020

I made an ass of myself this morning, getting snarky with some users because they thought they were responding to me rather than the O.P. on a question. It was my own fault because I hadn’t noticed that the O.P. and I had identical avatars and I don’t want to make an ass of myself (again). Help…

Go here, choose a different avatar, and then at the bottom, click the “choose” button. Note: You can choose a different avatar or upload your own.

Thanks but it took me a few, hadn’t had my morning coffee yet. No excuse I know, but I’m normally not a jerk like that.

@Nomore_lockout I saw the mistake that was made in that other question and answer thread. I’m glad it was corrected. Good on you for noticing the problem and fixing it.

There is one thing that I notice you do sometimes. You assume that the answers appearing on the thread just below your answer are addressing you. That’s not always the case. Most of the time, they are addressing the OP. Usually, if an answer does not address a particular jelly in the thread, it will not have an at sign and name. Those are normally for the OP. Sometimes, if a jelly answering in a thread wishes to address the writer immediately above them, they will sometimes use the ”^” sign. Sometimes if they are addressing another jelly in a thread, they will use the at sign and a name.

(I just discovered in typing this answer that if I type an at sign, it will confuse the site’s programming and cause the typeface to change.)

@Hawaii_Jake Thanks for that tip, I’ll work on that as well, still not over my embarrassment at my snafu this morning,,,
