Should Inauguration Day be a national holiday?

Asked by JLeslie (65714points) January 20th, 2021 from iPhone

Is it in other countries?

I’m watching parts of the Inauguration in-between doing some work and my husband has been in work meetings almost all day. He and his work colleagues have little to no opportunity to watch and listen to the events of the day unless they recorded them. That seems wrong to me.

In one way it is so American to me for the change in power to be uneventful. I’ve always appreciated that, my dad pointed it out when I was very young. In another way it’s a big deal, and important to hear the speech of our new president.

What do you think?

Absolutely not. There is nothing worthwhile in watching this nonsense. We don’t even have a national holiday for voting!

Well, it is for me. The Husband opened a bottle of prosecco at noontime. This is the first time, in 4 years, that I’ve felt comfortable about exhaling.
