Do you think the BBC coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has a pro EU subtext?

Every bulletin seems to tell us how wonderful the EU is. We are told that this and that country wants to join this “wonderful” organisation.

Of course. Objectivity on this one will be the lonely exception.

Don’t conflate the EU and NATO. They are not the same.

The BBC would not be promoting the EU, especailly after Brexit.

You got your connection to media and government mixed up.

I don’t notice that slant.
It’s not evident on either the radio or tv broadcasts I have access to.

But no one should be surprised that in the current crisis non-member states are pushing to join the EU.

No, as the EU has hardly been mentioned in the BBC’s reporting of the invasion of Ukraine. The UK came out of the EU voluntarily recently so there has been a lot of coverage in that regard but it is really a separate issue. You imply that the BBC has called the EU a “wonderful” organisation. I doubt if that is true and I would appreciate you giving us the context in which it was said.
