Can bright light and sound deter cockroaches from living in your apartment?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24882points) July 12th, 2022

Cockroaches need to sleep too.

Humor and legit answers welcome:

P.S. I don’t have any bug problems this is just a what if question.

There is not much that will keep them out. If they live in your area outside, they will get inside. Keeping things clean and tidy helps, but honestly not that much. They make ultrasonic bug repellers but they don’t work that well. Lights just make them hide a little better.

Sealing all possible cracks EVERYWHERE in my apartment in tape, even inside cupboards, and the door to the hall, eventually worked for me.

Lights make them hide and they can always find a place out of the light
They don’t hear the way we do. They can sense air vibration with hairs on their legs. They only way noise will seperate you from the cockroach is when you decide it is too loud and leave.
Boric acid, and diatomaceous earth will work.
As will an electric airsoft bb machine gun. Warning: The results are messy.

They make this anti roach stuff you apply with a caulking gun in their favorite hideouts like under the kitchen sink. It’s ugly but boy does it work. Haven’t had a roach problem in 20 years.
