Has Amazon stopped giving book previews?

Asked by LostInParadise (32162points) October 3rd, 2023

It has been a while since I have seen an entry on Amazon that lets you peek inside the book. I thought it was a nice feature. Just being able to see a book’s table of contents can provide useful information.

I still can see samples as well as an Audible 5 minute sample.

Maybe I am looking at the wrong books. Could you give me an example of a book that you looked at?

Anderson Coopers recent book “Astor”

Default selection is Audible. Select Hardcover or paperback where applicable

I imagine that the publisher / author has to give permission for these extracts, so it may very well be that – on the books you’re asking about – no permission was given.

I’m looking at this popular novel and I don’t see where you can read it like you used to be able to. I see “read sample” but you can’t actually read anything or view anything when you click on it: https://www.amazon.com/Rules-Civility-Novel-Amor-Towles/dp/0143121162/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1X9SSB1TI1N7Z&keywords=amor+towles+rules+of+civility&qid=1696342831&sprefix=amor+towele%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-1

I definitely was looking at the wrong books. The only difference from the way it used to be is that before it said “Look inside” and now it says “Read sample”.

I think that they changed their wording. If you look just below the pic of the front cover on the upper left of the description page, there is a link to “Read Sample”. I’ve not clicked on it to see how it works. I mostly buy Kindle books.
