Do you have a maxim that you use daily?

Asked by smudges (11152points) January 5th, 2024

another question inspired this one:
Are there words you use to create positive energy in your daily life? ...a chant, quote, affirmation?

Mine is:

I am strong
My body is healthy
I have vitality
Healing energy flows through me

No, but I probably should get in the habit of a calming phrase and taking some deep breaths.

No.

I guess, if anything, I have learned habits.

1. Stand up
2. Walk to bathroom and pee.
3. Walk to kitchen and make coffee
4. Open eyes.

Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.

I got to use the bathroom without assistance. It’s gonna be another great day!

@JLeslie I know what you mean. I sometimes forget and it can take months to get back in the habit. :\

Mainly, I try to focus on what I have endured to get to this point.
I have a long journey ahead of me, recovering from my liver transplant and the fact I was practically dead for over 2 years.

I don’t have a specific go to, but I definitely have to motivate myself to get through the day alive, and to keep my shit together.

I like Stewart Smiley.
“I’m good enough. I’m smart enough, and doggonit, people like me.” (I think that’s what he said.)...

Every day I say to myself:
“Fuck me. Fuck my life!”
also:
“I should blow my fucking brains out!”
I am a believer in self-loathing. Because of this, I don’t feel entitled. Any misery that comes my way is deserved.
That said, I am over the top excited about this year! May/June should be a non-stop celebration!

now who is Mr. Grimm?

On a bad day, it’s: “Get moving fat boy.”

On a good day, it’s: “Be Thoughtful, Be Productive, Be Mindful”

When all else fails: “There might be cookies today.”

@RedDeerGuy1 I use “Do I need it?” regularly. Sometimes it actually works. :)

Not daily, but I like the Theodore Roosevelt quote: Do what you can with what you have where you are.

I have my own maxim: “Trust me. Now, just lean into it!”

My family has learned to run when I say that.

Never assume anything!

We are human. Being human is a chronic fatal condition.

As a competitor in many sports, and competitions, I have always enjoyed the saying “I never lose.
Why? Because even when I don’t win, I learn something. Win or learn, there is no loss.”..

seawulf575's avatar

@MrGrimm888 reminds me of another Maxim: I learn something new every day.
