..when you start obsessing/fantasizing over a past relationship and but ignore the particulars of why it ended, blocking out the reality that if you were to actually pursue it again, you’d most likely end up just as unhappy?
I tried Urban Dictionary, but no luck.

I think you’re looking for a phrase. I’m not sure that such a word exists.
How does, “Looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses” sound?
Nostalgia?
1. A bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past.
2. The condition of being homesick; homesickness.
It is called, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.
Because it is how my brain feels when I try to cross that bridge.
I big coherently, incoherent scramble.
‘Nostalgia’ is close, but doesn’t incorporate the fact that whatever you’re reminiscing about wasn’t all that great, which was why it ended.
Delusional; living in a fantasy world, wishful thinking, slow to learn,
It is the triumph of hope over experience.
Look up the Portuguese concept of Saudade
Said to be a very Portuguese concept (Some even exaggerate this to say that it is a uniquely Portuguese sentiment, I happen to not agree)
I don’t think in your exact situation you would use Saudade for the person that you are “missing”, but I would say you could have Saudade for the times once had had with person, or the relationship.
Regardless still a very kewl word ;-)
pathos? dysthymia? delusion? specious? delusional nostalgia?
I really really nostamnesia
I suffer from this and that’s why I have my best friend who is healthy reminding me that he used to smoke loads back when I was in that time period just to keep up with my smoking since I was so stressed out
